Lets live a little- The Black and Brown Box

Go into your closet, look around at the shoes that you have in there. Now, count how many of them are black or brown, write that number down. Now count how many you have that are a different color. Do you have any red shoes, or purple or blue? No? Maybe you have one pair that’s silver or grey?

This is pretty much the look of most ladies closets and for good reason. Black and brown go with pretty much anything and are the safest option if you are not particularly good at coordinating outfits. I am here to help you step outside of the black and brown box and into the world of beautiful, delicious shoes of all colors and textures and styles.

Pamper me with Shoes- A Mother’s Day Special

God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made Mothers”, Rudyard Kipling

Mother’s Day is here already which is crazy because this year seems to be flying by at record speed. But this is a special day because it’s the one day that is set aside specifically to celebrate Mothers. Yes I know that you should make the Mother in your life feel special everyday but we all know that life gets so chaotic sometimes that we forget to make time for the people that are most important to us. Days like Mother’s Day, remind us all to stop for a day and make the extra effort to make it special for the Mother in your life. My definition of Mother doesn’t just mean you or that person gave birth to a child, you could be a Mother figure to someone that is not your biological child, it could be someone that has always been there for you no matter what, it could be a co-worker or friend or relative that’s been like a Mother to you, it could even be your dad, it’s basically anyone that is loved like a Mother and deserves to be honored on this day.

Adidas Superstar- An Independent Shoe Opinion

I mentioned in my blog “A Conversation about Converse” that I am not a sneaker person. I personally don’t think they are cute enough to be worn as an everyday shoe although I do completely understand why a lot of people do so. As I also mentioned in that blog, I am on a constant quest for “sneaker-type” shoes, which are shoes that resemble sneakers but are more of a shoe than a sneaker and are cuter than sneakers.

This is where the Adidas Superstar shoes come in. I bought these shoes because I saw someone wearing them on a TV show I was watching and I liked they way they looked on the lady that had them on. So of course, I had to have them. This is what shoes do to me you see.

I went to the Adidas Online site and ordered a pair in size 9, which is what my enormous feet usually fit into. I got the shoes a few days later, tried them on and they were huge. Ok, so, their sizing is different. Great. Now the annoying part about buying something online or even in the store for that matter-  returning said item. In any event, I put the shoes back in their box, processed the return, went painfully to the Post Office (my least favorite place after buying gas and going to the bank) and shipped them back.

I want you with me wherever I go

I know I can’t be the only person that’s guilty of this. You buy a pair of shoes or a cute outfit, and they just go with everything. No matter the occasion, no matter what you may have on, you know for a fact that those shoes or outfit will be a perfect match. To make things even better, they are soooo comfortable. Next thing you know, you’re wearing the same pair of shoes almost everyday or the same outfit at least once a week in spite of the fact that you have many many more shoes or outfits in your closet. Sound familiar?

Green with Envy- A St. Patrick’s Day Special

St. Patrick’s Day or the Feast of St. Patrick is coming up soon and even though I’m not Irish I am always up for celebrating any holiday that has a singular color associated with it and the fact that it has been designated as an official drinking day is a plus as well. The only issue I have with St. Patrick’s Day is that green is my least favorite color for clothing or shoes.

I am all for variety and different color clothes and shoes and don’t believe in boxing myself into just wearing black or brown or white or whatever the color may be. I have purchased green outfits at some point but they end sitting in my closet until I eventually donate them. I have a lot of variety in shoe colors but green just isn’t one of them. St. Patrick’s Days have come around and I would search my closet high and low for something green to avoid being pinched knowing full well I didn’t have anything and would end up wearing something as close enough to green as I could get and hope to receive a green party hat or something. A Conversation About Converse

I’m not really a sneaker person. I wear them for working out but that’s about it. I know a lot of people wear them as an everyday shoe and I understand why, they are very comfortable. But for me, sneakers are for exercise or sports. I am however on a constant search for what I call “sneaker type shoes”. These are shoes that resemble sneakers but are more of a shoe than a sneaker and are cuter than sneakers.

I decided to try Converse shoes. It took me a while to buy a pair because even though they meet my requirement for resembling a sneaker but not quite being sneakers, they didn’t meet my requirement for necessarily being cuter than sneakers. But, I’m never one to turn down the opportunity to try on a pair of shoes that catches my fancy, so I trotted down to the Converse Shoe Outlet here in Orlando and bought my first pair.
