Have you ever loved something even though they cause you pain? No, I’m not talking about that boyfriend you know you should break up with but never seem to be able to. I am talking about clothes and shoes and for the purposes of this article, specifically, pencil skirts. Continue reading “Pencil Skirts— I love them but….”
It seems to me that there are three groups of people. Group 1 love leggings, Group 2 neither love them nor hate them but wear them if need be and are not sure how to make them look good and Group 3 hate leggings and wouldn’t be caught dead or alive for that matter wearing them and think everyone that wears leggings are in need of a serious wardrobe makeover. I am proud to say that I am part of Group 1! I don’t know that I can do anything to change the minds of you Group 3 people, but I am actively recruiting all Group 2 people so Group 1 can take over and eventually overthrow Group 3 through any means possible! Whew! not sure if that was dramatic enough 🙂
Go into your closet, look around at the shoes that you have in there. Now, count how many of them are black or brown, write that number down. Now count how many you have that are a different color. Do you have any red shoes, or purple or blue? No? Maybe you have one pair that’s silver or grey?
This is pretty much the look of most ladies closets and for good reason. Black and brown go with pretty much anything and are the safest option if you are not particularly good at coordinating outfits. I am here to help you step outside of the black and brown box and into the world of beautiful, delicious shoes of all colors and textures and styles.
I think, I may not be alone in this. I pick out my outfit for the day, a pair of pants and a blouse, I think it will look cute if I tuck my shirt into my pants and and wear a skinny belt with it to pull the whole outfit together. I look in the mirror and like what I see. I’m ready to start my day. I drive to work, get out of my car and my shirt is no longer tucked into my pants. So I stand in the parking lot, look around to make sure no one is looking and I shove my shirt back into my pants. I get to my desk, sit down, check my email then decide to go get some water from the break room. I stand up and here we go again, my shirt is out of my pants again. OMG! Suddenly the outfit was not such a good idea after all. By the end of the day I have re-tucked my shirt into my pants so many times that if not for my firm belief in never messing with a fashion statement, I would’ve pulled the darn shirt over my pants and left it at that!
“God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made Mothers”, Rudyard Kipling
Mother’s Day is here already which is crazy because this year seems to be flying by at record speed. But this is a special day because it’s the one day that is set aside specifically to celebrate Mothers. Yes I know that you should make the Mother in your life feel special everyday but we all know that life gets so chaotic sometimes that we forget to make time for the people that are most important to us. Days like Mother’s Day, remind us all to stop for a day and make the extra effort to make it special for the Mother in your life. My definition of Mother doesn’t just mean you or that person gave birth to a child, you could be a Mother figure to someone that is not your biological child, it could be someone that has always been there for you no matter what, it could be a co-worker or friend or relative that’s been like a Mother to you, it could even be your dad, it’s basically anyone that is loved like a Mother and deserves to be honored on this day.
St. Patrick’s Day or the Feast of St. Patrick is coming up soon and even though I’m not Irish I am always up for celebrating any holiday that has a singular color associated with it and the fact that it has been designated as an official drinking day is a plus as well. The only issue I have with St. Patrick’s Day is that green is my least favorite color for clothing or shoes.
I am all for variety and different color clothes and shoes and don’t believe in boxing myself into just wearing black or brown or white or whatever the color may be. I have purchased green outfits at some point but they end sitting in my closet until I eventually donate them. I have a lot of variety in shoe colors but green just isn’t one of them. St. Patrick’s Days have come around and I would search my closet high and low for something green to avoid being pinched knowing full well I didn’t have anything and would end up wearing something as close enough to green as I could get and hope to receive a green party hat or something.
