The Miracle that are Bodysuits- An Independent Apparel Opinion

I think, I may not be alone in this. I pick out my outfit for the day, a pair of pants and a blouse, I think it will look cute if I tuck my shirt into my pants and and wear a skinny belt with it to pull the whole outfit together. I look in the mirror and like what I see. I’m ready to start my day. I drive to work, get out of my car and my shirt is no longer tucked into my pants. So I stand in the parking lot, look around to make sure no one is looking and I shove my shirt back into my pants. I get to my desk, sit down, check my email then decide to go get some water from the break room. I stand up and here we go again, my shirt is out of my pants again. OMG! Suddenly the outfit was not such a good idea after all. By the end of the day I have re-tucked my shirt into my pants so many times that if not for my firm belief in never messing with a fashion statement, I would’ve pulled the darn shirt over my pants and left it at that!

Yes, I suppose the issue could be that the shirt was too short and this is why it wouldn’t stay put. So I wear a longer shirt. Yes it stays put but now I have this weird bulking of the shirt tails inside my pants! It seems I can’t win here.

Enter, the best fashion comeback ever! The bodysuit! These used to be in back in the early 80s and 90s I believe and maybe even earlier than that. But regardless of when they were in back in the day, the important thing is they are in right now.

20180305_135240I love, love, love bodysuits. Suddenly the issue of keeping your shirt tucked into your pants or skirt vanishes. Pairing a bodysuit with dress pants and pencil skirts immediately gives you a clean, streamlined look. They can also be paired with jeans and shorts and come in various styles and textures. They have them in tank tops, dress shirts, halter tops, tube tops, off-the-shoulder tops, spandex, cotton, silk, I could go on and on. If you don’t own a bodysuit I implore you to go get one, it will change your life!

They are sold at almost all clothing stores. I get mine from Express.com, Venus.com and GoodAmerican.com. I hope bodysuits stay around for a while much like the skinny jean which seems to be here to stay (Yes Please!).

Now, body suits do have one downside which I will be remiss not to share with you. If you are wearing one of these lovely body suits, please by all means, do not wait until you really really have to go before heading to the bathroom. There is nothing like doing the pee-pee dance while trying to unbutton yourself out of that bodysuit while trying your best not to pee all over yourself. At least, that’s what I heard anyway 😉
